INFORMATION ABOUT DISTANCE LEARNING COURSES
The CAOS department offers many distance learning (online) courses.
These online courses are designed for students who are too busy or are
otherwise not able to come to the De Anza campus to take courses. You may complete all of these courses at home. If you do not
have access to a computer and the Internet, you should take the
self-paced version or lecture of the course instead.
Please note that the procedures for working in an online course may be very different than the self-paced course procedures. Each online instructor determines course procedures and materials. Follow the steps below to learn how to enroll and start an online course. (See FAQ's)
STEPS TO ENROLL IN A DISTANCE LEARNING (ONLINE) COURSE
1. Find the list of online courses
Online courses generally end with a "Z" extension. (Example: CAOS 112I-64Z). Go to http://deanza.edu/distance/. At the distance learning Web site, click on Schedule of Classes link. Scroll down to see the list of online courses and write down the Course Call number. For quick reference of available CAOS online courses, click Distance Learning (online) Course List link.
2. Enroll in the course
Register online or use the STAR telephone registration system. Open and closed class information is available through STAR or the online registration system. Keep in mind that online courses do NOT have open enrollment like CAOS self-paced classes. To add a course after the quarter begins,
email the instructor for that course.
